Hello, I’m Rachel…here to help you!

I’m a End of Life & Transitional Doula

As human beings, we all experience difficult transitions and heartbreak. Hiring an End of Life Doula will help to empower, guide you, and advocate with and for you, and that is priceless.

My career started with the Pattison Funeral Home in Medicine Hat in 1999. I quickly fell in love with the services and care that our funeral team provided. I had been asked on numerous occasions how I could work in an industry that was so sad. From my point of view, this question I viewed as incorrect. Yes, we did work with a lot of individuals who were grieving. At the same time, we worked with people who loved and honored each other so much that the by-product of such devotion in death was sadness. Glennon Doyle illustrated it best when she stated, “It’s our proof that we once loved. Grief is the receipt we wave in the air that says to the world: Look! Love was once mine”. I genuinely believe that I have worked with people who have loved hard and loved fiercely. It is an honor to be able to serve the grieving.

After leaving the funeral industry, I began a portrait photography company that specialized in capturing the love and adoration of my client’s most intimate family milestones. After a decade and a chronic shoulder injury, I returned my attention to my first passion, supporting individuals and families in grief.

In 2019, I continued my education in grief support. I received my certificate from Douglas College as an End of Life Doula. I recently finished my certifications in conflict resolution with eCornell University and am completing a course from Yale on the Science of Wellbeing.

I live in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and am a devoted wife and mother. In my spare time, I can be found reading, playing the piano, and taking in the beauty around me by continuing photography.
